I grew up in Northwestern Rhode Island, close to the Connecticut state line. I was lucky enough have a mom who worked from home and was always planning fun adventures. In the summer while my dad was at work my mom, brother, and I would travel to Quaddick State Park. It's special attraction is a large lake and beach surrounded by native trees. We would pack the Volvo with chairs, a cooler, and towels to spend the day on the pebbly shore of the lake. The water was shallow, perfect for young inexperienced swimmers, and we would try to catch small fish with nets and sand pails. In the warmest summer months the beach would be packed with families and the lake would fill up with boats. As kids the biggest worry was a long line for the snack bar or someone stepping on your sandcastle.
Quaddick is fun summer days without a care.
What will your Quaddick story be?
