"Historically consists of three buttons, the popover according Tradlands adds four more half-button placket with very beautiful finishes . Conceived and created in Los Angeles in collaboration with Lizzie Garrett Mettler , this popover cotton oxford is part androgynous par excellence that revisits the classic male while incorporating sartoriaux details borrowed from tomboy growing . Starting with a practical cup for a real clothing to live , neither too tight nor too loose and with a length to "do things that humans do" as noted by the brand."

"Tradlands: the answer for all women, myself included, who always find themselves in the menswear section, only to come away with another oversized shirt. No darts at the waist nor tiny little pockets and not a hint of gathering in sight. Strong, straightforward pieces made to last a lifetime, and these ones fit just right."
March 17, 2016
"Women who want to buy an oxford cloth shirt from a company that cares about comfort, proportions, and construction quality should consider The Elms by Tradlands, made in the US."
March 15, 2016
"We really over deliver on the promise of a great shirt,” she told us from her home in Oceanside, California where she recently relocated with husband and Tradlands partner, Jeremy. “I answer 90% of the customer service emails and I know our customers personally. They’re a big part of our life and what we do. "

"Tradlands is carving a niche alongside the ones held by Brooks Brothers, Gitman Brothers, and even Rogue Territory. Such brands build cult followings because people go through life with their products: a customer can come back to a certain item season after season and rest assured that the cut and materials have either stayed consistent or, simply, improved."
December 3, 2015
"Tradlands creates menswear inspired staples for women with a relentless emphasis on fit, details, and quality. All of their products are guaranteed to last and made to be lived in. Standout products: Our friends over at Autostraddle cannot get enough of Tradlands’ button-downs, giving them praise for their quality and longevity, and for the fact that they are made by an independent business."

"The white Irish linen is so breezy and soft, but durable enough to take well to lots of wash cycles. The cut and tailoring is what makes Tradlands the best American-made women's shirt maker on the planet. But what's the best thing about The Tradlands x The Reed Safari Shirt? The oh-so-subtle YES monogram stitched to the chest in white thread."
June 26, 2015
"Lizzie Garrett Mettler (voice behind Tomboy Style and the Reed) and Tradlands (maker of the best menswear-inspired shirts for women) collaborated on a line of awesome, fabulous–seriously I LOVE mine–popover shirts."
May 18, 2015
"The attention to detail is something you're not going to find in fast fashion retailers. The crisp creations are crafted in small batches so a keen eye can be placed on production to make sure the company is delivering the best possible product. They've set out to create a flattering universal fit, and I'm confident they've met the mark from popovers to short-sleeve styles and shirt dresses."
May 11, 2015
"My top from Tradlands instantly became a favorite and a staple. It is crisp yet comfortable. The collar is pressed to perfection and even the buttons are solid and beautiful. If you've been looking for a shirt that can go from gardening to dinner with friends, one that will stand the test of time- then look no further!"
January 31, 2015
"While pricier than many offerings you’ll find at Everlane, Tradlands prides itself on offering incredibly durable, practical and perfectly tailored women’s shirts in a variety of beautiful (and timeless) prints and fabrics, all of which should last you a lifetime."
December 18, 2014
"The Tradlands buffalo check plaid shirt is insanely cozy and the fit is perfect."
December 10, 2014
"Back to the shirt though. I like to call it, relaxed yet refined. It’s like a great “boyfriend” shirt, but that was actually made just for you! Even though I’m small, I have struggled to find a really nice fitting button down, and after wearing this one a few times, I’m super happy with the fit. Like I mentioned, the chest fit is great, and the placement of buttons ensures the right coverage. The sleeves are just a touch longer than the average shirt, so they still look “full length” when bending your arms. The material is also nice and soft, and easy to care for – just throw in the wash and cool dry. The buttons are double tacked, so I don’t fear losing a button. Although if I do, Tradlands will send you a replacement free of charge! "

"I've mentioned before how living on the road forces us to identify our essentials and rid our trailer life of the rest--a practice I will continue to do for the rest of my life. This was a piece of cake for me because I am not a "things" kind of woman...except when it comes to fur coats, leather vests, and all sorts of other clothing items I have accumulated in the past. "
October 22, 2014
"We’ve had a handful of customers email us about wearing their Tradlands shirts on first dates. We’ve received emails detailing how she felt the shirt was her lucky charm or how their date complimented their shirt. It’s fun and sweet that our customers connect wearing our shirts with a great experience. "

"It's like this: You know that Lincoln quote, "Whatever you are, be a good one"? San Francisco's Tradlands basically embodies that idea. They're a quality-focused womenswear brand, and they are a good one, producing menswear-style button-downs that are made for lady bodies."
September 17, 2014
"It's been so great to watch the American women's shirting company Tradlands grow and evolve over the past year and a half since their launch. From start-up to a now fully-fledged brand, they've just today released their fourth collection, and it's no doubt their best ever. From their outdoorsy flannel Arapahoe shirt to their more staid Northhampton oxford pop-over (a Tomboy Style collab), their newest collection of seven shirts really runs the gamut in the best way."
September 16, 2014
"As always, the shirts were designed right in San Francisco, pulling inspiration from menswear, but tailored specifically for a woman’s body. The fabric and construction is always top notch, the types of clothes that actually get better with wear. I’m particularly keen on the mid-weight cotton, San Francisco made Robie shirt, but i’m also pretty excited about their heavy cotton buffalo check Arapahoe flannel sewn by union workers in Fall River, Massachusetts."
September 16, 2014
"I don't know about you, but I'm way out of my element in summer. Inspiration is forced and it just seems like the hot and sunny days will never make way for cool and rainy ones. Especially since right now I'm in sunny southern California, avoiding the beautiful beach beneath me, and instead dreaming of being in the Tradlands Fall 2014 lookbook. I mean seriously, I haven't been this enchanted with a lookbook in a while, it's done everything perfectly from the lush woodsy setting, the photo inset images, and the "I woke up on a chilly morning looking like this and went for a hike" model."
September 15, 2014
"No fall wardrobe is complete without a few, hardworking button ups stashed for the cool days ahead, and Tradlands is ready to outfit you for fall with its newest collection of SF-made shirts."
September 14, 2014
" An interesting dichotomy emerged from my travels, though. At home, I tend to go for a more relaxed, bohemian approach to style. After being in NYC for a few days and being surrounded by arguably some of the best street style out there, I realized that my love for all black ensembles and a more city slicker, minimal look will be worked into a lot of my new fall looks."
July 30, 2014
"Whether you're a tomboy at heart or just need a new tailored shirt, Tradlands is about to be your favorite one-stop button-down shop. Currently on its third season, this brand focuses on menswear-style shirts tailored to fit women."
July 21, 2014
"The beautiful Lake Merced arrived at my doorstep a few days ago and I have been in love ever since. I have had a major brand crush on Tradlands for a long time. Their brand concept is something I have been yearning for. However, with hot summers here down in Austin I just haven't been able to justify buying a long sleeve plaid shirt. That changed when Tradlands released this summer-weight button-up. The shirt is super light weight and fits like a gem. "
July 10, 2014
"Be nice, be authentic, and care about your customers. They take their hard earned money and trust you enough to exchange it for the products you sell. Value their trust. Respond to every email, write them back as fast as you can, let them know you appreciate their business. Send every customer you have a Christmas card. Be personal, tell them your story. Ask them for feedback and utilize it. A relationship between you and your customers based on the highest quality products and trust will be invaluable to your company."

"Their button-downs are not trendy, nor are they trying to be. "We think of them as something a mother could buy and wear now, then pass down to her daughter, and that's possible because of how well they're made," says Sadie who has worked tirelessly with Jeremy over the last 18 months to build a brand based on what their customers actually want, avoiding fads and focusing on quality: "

"My blog has been quite sparse lately so I wanted to go back and post about some things that have been keeping me busy over the past few months. We had the opportunity to shoot Tradlands SS14 Lookbook photos back in March and were so happy with the results. Tradlands is an amazing company that makes women's Oxford shirts right here in the US. The shirts are made for real women and they fit exactly like you want, in the styles that you wish for. Two of the shirts (some of my absolute favorites) were made in collaboration with the awesome Tomboy Style. Sadie and Jeremy are the owners of Tradlands and couldn't be sweeter and easier to work with and I'm so glad we've gotten to know them over the past few months. Here are some of my favorite shots and be sure to check out their website with all of the styles available now."

"Here’s my idea of the perfect summer camp ensemble. All the items are made for women but could easily be sourced in a gent’s version."
April 21, 2014
"And so, the rest is history! We made some popovers! Two to be exact. The Busby is a grape and white striped oxford cloth shirt named after my great grandfather of English descent. I love how this shirt is both proper and casual. The Ashburn is a solid white oxford with tortoise shell buttons which is named after the first dorm I lived in at Brooks School, it's a shirt I wish I had then because when you have limited closet space, this is a shirt that really can be worn with everything, multiple days a week even."
April 16, 2014
"Every girl needs to have a classic button-down top in her closet, so naturally Tradlands caught our attention—an exceptional brand that is committed to making quality Oxford shirts for women. Not only do we admire their commitment to constructing beautifully detailed tailored shirts—each loosely fitted, easy to iron, made with durable materials, and in prints that outlast fads—but we are particularly thrilled to hear about their Spring 2014 Volume Three line featuring real women as their models!"
April 8, 2014
"The new Spring collection from locally (and ethically) made brand Tradlands will make you want to pack a few (okay, all) the button-up shirts into a duffel and hit the road."
April 8, 2014
"Loving Tradland’s new shirts for the Spring. Their shirting is seriously one of the best I’ve found for women. These images from the lookbook are fresh, approachable, and leaves you longing for summer days in Maine."
April 4, 2014
" ...That's how author and Tomboy Style blogger Lizzie Garret Mettler, known for her androgynous and spare style, has described Tradlands' shirts. This spring, Mettler collaborated with the label on a henley popover in two colorways, white and a subtle stripe, that will be available for purchase on April 22 online."
April 1, 2014
"The Volume Three lookbook and collection, which launched today along with a new website, was just the jolt of summery, tomboy aesthetic I need to daydream away my last few weeks of classes. While the standout of the collection was without a doubt the Farallon Islands shirt, considering its remarkably quick sell-out."

“Comfortable and effortlessly chic, the button-down shirt is an essential staple in every tomboy’s wardrobe. But it is a daunting task to find the perfect one. Meet Tradlands‘ Sadie Roberts who wants to make the best women’s shirt that you’ll ever own.”
JANUARY 8, 2014
"Tradlands possesses an authoritative and boyish New England aesthetic, complemented by the duo’s dedication to Union-made apparel. As I admire Miss Beaudet’s affliction towards simplicity in dressing and attention to detail, I was pleased when asked to test the latest Tradlands henley."

December 12, 2013
"Enter Tradlands, a company out of the SF area dedicated to manufacturing stylish, made in SF shirting for women. I asked Tradlands to send me one of their chambray shirts, the Clement street, for review. I’m drawn to the Tradlands shirts because they are well made and simply styled – no pleats, hour glass panels or gratuitously feminizing details."
November 20, 2013
“Perfect for the tomboy at heart, San Francisco based and made Tradlands is creator of extremely durable, well made shirts inspired by the quality and make of men’s shirts. Trust me: I’ve seen and worn them, and they really feel like something special, something you know will last a very long time. No flimsy girl shirts here.”
November 8, 2013
“This is hands down one of the best nights of our year every year, and we strongly encourage the rest of the world to start their own Glamp Train.”
November 7, 2013
"“Autostraddle LOVES Tradlands, a small clothing company in San Francisco who make quality high-end button-downs for women – except they are exactly like the shirts in the men’s section. And guess what? They love us back.”"
November 6, 2013
“I’ve been married for just six weeks and my wedding ring has quickly become my fashion essential. It’s a rose gold signet ring with my husband’s initials, JDR, inscribed on the front and orange blossoms framing the letters. One of the jewelers told me to think of myself not just as the buyer but also the next caretaker for the ring.”
October 29, 2013
"Tradlands makes the kind of shirts you’ll own and love for years, which, combined with the ethical sourcing and attention to detail, easily justifies the price. The other thing I love about Tradlands is that even though the brand’s aesthetic is very tomboy-ish, these shirts would look just as good with a pencil skirt and high heels as they would with slouchy jeans and sneakers. So cute and versatile."
October 28, 2013
"“I've worn this shirt every weekend, all weekend, for the past three weeks. It's a shirt for living in. It's thick and sturdy and loose enough under the arms that it doesn't feel constrictive and it doesn't make me sweaty and uncomfortable. But it's not so loose that it's frumpy or boxy. Being able to unbutton the top buttons ups the sex appeal, in case that's something you're after.”"
October 27, 2013
“We have been impressed by their design and quality. The San Francisco brand and manufacturer makes women’s apparel inspired by men’s staple items. Wait, what? High quality, great fitting clothing for women inspired by men’s classics?”
October 22, 2013
“this button-down has become my lifeblood; as someone with a large bust, it is damn near impossible to find one that fits without puckering or pulling. i kinda want to throw a parade in its honor. and while it may be hard for you to justify spending $100+, i feel you. trust me, though — this is a purchase you will not regret. hand-crafted, made in america, and a better-than-good fit? if i may speak on their behalf, tradlands would say “you’re welcome.”
October 21, 2013
“They are just tailored enough to look professional but can morph into a great after work adventure shirt in an instant.”
October 16, 2013
October 15, 2013
“What i love so much about her collection is that each shirt is carefully constructed with quality materials, just like you would find in some of your favorite menswear shirting, but she has really taken the time to make sure that the cut is made for a woman.”
October 15, 2013
“As someone who lives in button-downs and used to covet my husband’s options, I am thrilled that they are creating solutions for women.”
October 11, 2013
“Gone are the days of coveting those perfectly tailored button-ups in your boyfriend's closet, Tradlands is your new go-to for effortless tomboy style.”
October 7, 2013
October 7, 2013 “The Clement St button up for me to style, which is the perfect ladies interpretation of a mens button up. Not only is the quality up there with what the boys can get, but it's also made right here in the U.S. (San Francisco to be exact). It's beautifully tailored, not so much fitted, but skims at the waist and didn't gap one bit which is always an issue I have with button ups.”
September 30, 2013
"They're American-made, versatile, and cut in a tailored-but-not too-tailored way that constantly has me coming back for more."
September 27, 2013
“Our intention is to offer the best shirts for our customer: women who are creative, hard working, and like to be comfortable in their clothing,” states co-owner and designer Sadie Beaudet. “We make clothes for women that are guaranteed to last and made to be lived in.”
September 2, 2013
"Aside from searching for the best fabrics and buttons, co-founder Sadie's focus has always been on getting the best fit possible. Ladies can now achieve tomboy style without struggling to find shirts that aren't too baggy or too snug in the wrong places."
August 12, 2013
"Made by hand in San Francisco, the label is for all of us girls who have ever put on our dad's shirts and wished for a version of our own. The cut is narrow in all the right places and generous everywhere else, the fabric is ultrasoft with a flattering drape, and the punchy pink polka dot makes me smile when I see it hanging in my closet."
July 31, 2013
"If I wasn't a red head I'd snatch that Tradlands red take on chambray in a second."
July 16, 2013
"I love that it has brass snaps instead of buttons and the arms are big enough that they can be rolled up just how I like ‘em. They use a high-quality cotton denim that wears well and will age beautifully. And this amazing shirt is made by hand in San Francisco, right where it should be! The birth-place of denim, how cool is that? The EMB Denim Shirt Jacket really is a job well done. If you’re looking for that super special piece that you’ll have forever – this really is a great find."
July 1, 2013
"In Nob Hill, we began to notice an unusual trend: lady lumberjacks. Between Grace Cathedral and Washington Street, it seemed that we couldn't walk a block without running into a woman wearing a fashionable flannel or raw denim button-up. But when we discovered Sadie and Jeremy's home workshop a few streets over, things started to add up... Tradlands is an adventurous apparel company tailoring women's jackets and shirts with a rural twist."
May 24, 2013
"The unique product is already resonating with customers: With only two full-time employees, they've recovered all start-ups costs and doubled the size of their second production run."
May 16, 2013
"Not only that, but the brand has a very strong connection to San Francisco, where all of the garments are designed and constructed. Each shirt in their first collection is named after a different SF locale. I’m already smitten with their first selection and can’t wait to see what other styles they roll out with this year."
May 15, 2013
"If you lean towards a menswear vibe, you'll love Tradlands, and they make all their garments by hand in small batches in San Francisco. Think boyish plaid button ups tailored for a woman.""
May 10, 2013
"In terms of the future, the most important aspect of Tradlands to both Sadie and Jeremy will be the future work environment of the company. Both of the founders hope to hire but keep the environment small, happy, healthy; a place to 'grow, learn and find balance.'"
May 8, 2013
"A brand made specifically for the woman who loves the comfort of menswear inspired finds but still wants that touch of femininity and a modern feel, Tradlands showcases relaxed silhouettes for pieces that are long lasting and perfect for any outfit."

"Tradlands also warmed my senses when learning one of the founding partners, Jeremy, is from Iowa. Seeing a Midwest guy making an impact in the fashion industry brings a smile to my face."
April 11, 2013
"Even before Racked readers named Hayes Valley San Francisco's most stylish neighborhood, Tradlands knew what was up. They named their sweet red chambray shirt after the natty 'hood."
April 9, 2013
"Designer Sadie Beaudet was also drawn to menswear, but she didn't like the boxy fit on her body. She also didn't like how women's fashion was pulled from the racks one season and tossed a few months later, while menswear often had a timeless quality that never fell out of season."
April 1, 2013
March 21, 2013
"No form-fitting stretch or 'hourglass' tailoring in sight here. A relief to all women who seek a shirt that is flattering but allows for movement and getting stuff done.""
March 19, 2013
"After years of bringing men's shirts into a dressing room with fingers crossed that just maybe it would fit right, Beaudet resigned herself to self-tailoring or would just sacrifice fit and don an oversized boxy shirt. Lucky for us, she decided to take matters into her own hands with a collection of shirts that marries menswear styling with women's tailoring."
March 20, 2013
"To add even more magic to the fantastic fabrics and meticulous fit, the folks behind Tradlands are beyond amazing to work with. Sadie and Jeremy are the brilliant minds behind the clothes and their story is pure heart. In every interaction with them, you can feel the love they have for this dream of theirs. And those sorts of designers are one of the reasons why I love what I do. They are inspired by their customers, and in turn we are inspired by them."
March 15, 2013
"The fit was absolutely perfect for a flannel - roomy, but not unflattering."
March 14, 2013

"A new clothing company that specializes in borrowed-from-the-boys shirts tailored to a woman's body."
