Name: Kasie Lough
Intro: Hi friends! My name is Kasie and I live on Vancouver Island with my husband and our pets, though I am originally from Tacoma, Washington! I like to say that I am a teacher, baker + maker. I am a full-time Teacher-Librarian, Social Media Manager for a local cafe and florist, and a Recipe Developer for a select few brands that I love a lot.
I value intentionality above all else and hope to lead a life that represents this in my relationships with people, food, the environment and the way I choose to dress my body. I don’t always get it right, but I’m trying my best to navigate life as it comes at me with heaps of gentleness for myself and others.

I love creating with food! I am constantly trying to expand my knowledge of all things cooking/baking/styling/etc. and never tire of the opportunity to explore this love of mine. I feel fortunate to have been able to carve out a life for myself where I can play with my food and get compensated for it! My mind is forever racing and I try to take every opportunity that I can to experience flow and slow down a bit. Food lets me do just that! I also enjoy playing dress up + decorating my home with intentional pieces that make me happy!

I love all of my Tradlands pieces so much but my little black Nico Dress gets worn a whole awful lot (usually layered over jeans)! I also have the Field Chore Coat in Forest Corduroy and it is one of the most beautiful pieces of clothing I have ever owned! I plan to wear it all Winter long!
At the moment I am infatuated with colourful Scandinavian fashion and interiors. I’m obsessed. I really enjoy the unconventional print clashing, oversized layers and use of natural fibres. I love, love, love Ulrika Westman. She has less than 10k followers on IG and I’m pretty sure she is the mother of Gustaf Westman (the creator of those fun curvy mirrors and tables) but MAN does she give me life.
I’m also forever inspired by my internet pals and always make sure to give credit where credit is due. So much of our identity is wrapped up in our clothes (hehe) and I want to make sure that I still feel like myself when I pull inspiration and leave those who inspire me feeling the same. Plus, it’s fun to hype up your pals for sharing who they are with the world!
Go easy on yourself and stay soft. There is a lot to learn and sustainable change doesn’t happen all at once, and definitely not alone. Most people become passionate about ethical fashion because they learn about the injustices that go on in the fashion industry. These things are heavy and often come with a lot of guilt. I encourage newcomers to protect their energy, find community and be gentle with themselves while still continuing to learn and grow. It is also critical to acknowledge that there is not a one-size-fits-all template for ethical consumerism because everyone comes with their own set of factors to consider when spending money/dressing their body. Instead of making assumptions about someone else’s journey, remember how far you have come and stay soft, gentle and approachable. That’s when real change happens.

I am honestly looking forward to the holidays! I have decided to lean into all of the traditions and warm fuzzies that come with this time of year unabashedly. Especially because last year was missing so much of that. I am eager to see my family and nestle into my home a bit. I am also working towards gaining Canadian residency and beginning my Masters in Education!
Thank you so much, Kasie!
