with Lauren Anderson
Introducing a new series: Tradlands Worn Well.
Interviews with people we admire who are changing the way we get dressed. We talk about living well in clothing you love and how wardrobe choices are shaped by the day-to-day.
Our first interview is with Lauren Anderson, who you might know from Instagram as Lauren Marigold. She is passionate about making sustainable fashion and low waste living available to everyone. Aside from having impeccable style, she's also the co-host of the Body Banter podcast and a freelance social media strategist.
How would you describe your personal style?
I feel like this is always such a hard question! But I would say unfussy and maybe a little country. I keep it pretty simple for the most part, but I love playing with texture and softer silhouettes. Solid colors (in a very specific palette) and classic shapes are my go-to’s.
Who or where do you look to for style inspiration?
Instagram!!! There are so many cool people wearing the coolest stuff all over my feed. It’s the biggest source of inspiration. My favorite people to look to for fashion inspiration are @rachelbarkman, @shannydoots, and @petraalexandra.
Why do you choose to shop ethically?
I believe that everyone deserves to be paid fairly for their labor. I also don’t understand why anyone should suffer so I can wear a cheap pair of jeans. The system isn’t fair or okay, and shopping ethically is just one thing I can do to support the brands that are trying to make things right.
Tell us about your podcast.
Well, it’s on a bit of an accidental hiatus right now because my co-host and I haven’t been in the same place in months! But Body Banter is me and my best friend talking about our everyday lives as curvy women. So far, we’ve covered topics like travel, dating, and growing up with diet culture. We’re hoping to do a lot more with it next year, so stay tuned!!
What are 3 must-have items in your wardrobe?
A cotton cardigan (like the Shelter Cardigan!!), a good turtleneck, and a comfortable pair of jeans.
Thank you so much, Lauren! Check out more of Lauren's style on her Instagram @laurenmarigold.
Stay tuned for our next interview coming up soon.
